DID YOU KNOW ? WEDDING RINGS
2007-11-26

Wedding rings represent the union between man and woman: promise, respect, and mutual love.

THE HISTORY OF THE WEDDING RING
It was the Egyptians who first established the custom of the wedding ring, placing it on the fourth finger of the left hand (now know as the ring finger). In Hebrew tradition, the ring was worn on index finger of the right hand, while the Greeks, much later, returned the ring to the original finger. The French added their own variation in the 17th century, when they wore it on the thumb. It took some time before the ring was returned, once more, to the left ring finger.

THE TRADITION OF THE WEDDING RING

The wedding ring is offered by the man at the moment of engagement. As engagements do not always take place, jewelers sometimes combine the engagement and wedding rings into a single piece. The fiancé keeps the rings until the wedding day, before giving them to the presiding official or cleric. Wedding rings are exchanged at the church, or at the town hall if there is no religious ceremony.

WHEN SHOULD A WEDDING RING BE BOUGHT?

There is no exact timeline, but expect a minimum of a one month wait after ordering. If you have decided to include an inscription, fifteen days will be needed to complete the modification.

NOTE: It is not essential to have matching wedding rings. Everyone has different tastes, and, above all, different hands: it is a shame to wear a wedding ring of yellow gold if white gold suits better.

One of the many advantages in dealing with artistic jewelers such as SERAFINO is the assurance that your wedding rings will receive expert, caring attention and service for life.

However, manicuring is not included in this guarantee!
